In a year defined by collaboration and innovation, the Chemistry Industry Association of Canada (CIAC) recognized Inter Pipeline with three Responsible Care Awards: Operation Clean Sweep (OCS) Company of the Year Award; Excellence in Partnership Award; and Women in Chemistry Award going to Kimberly Benedict, VP Operations for Heartland. These awards recognize the stewardship of our Heartland operations team in exemplifying the Responsible Care principles on behalf of Inter Pipeline.

The OCS Company of the Year Award recognizes IPL’s leadership in environmental stewardship, showcased through the Heartland Petrochemical Complex’s exemplary implementation of Operation Clean Sweep principles. From innovative facility design that prevents plastic pellet loss to proactive employee engagement and community clean-up initiatives, Heartland demonstrates IPL’s commitment to sustainability across its operations.
The Excellence in Partnership Award highlights Inter Pipeline’s collaborative work with Indigenous communities, particularly Alexander First Nation. Through initiatives like the warehousing partnership with Alexander Valve & Supply and long-term community support in education, health, and cultural programs, IPL has demonstrated how respectful, values-driven relationships can drive both operational success and community empowerment. The award reflects a deep commitment to Responsible Care and inclusive economic development.
The Women in Chemistry Award honours Kimberly Benedict’s transformative leadership in operations and her advocacy for women in STEM. As a senior leader at Heartland, Kimberly has championed safety, mentorship, and inclusive workplace culture, while also leading Canada’s first integrated PDH/PP plant. Her dedication to empowering others and advancing Responsible Care principles makes her a role model across the chemical industry.
Accepting these awards on behalf of Inter Pipeline and the Heartland team was a meaningful experience. They represent the dedication of so many people who care deeply about doing things the right way.
