Prioritizing Rail Safety, Today and Every Day
Inter Pipeline has a 1,600-car, state-of-the-art rail fleet that moves our Heartland Polymers polypropylene product from our Heartland Petrochemical Complex (HPC) out to customers across North America. With HPC entering full service this fall, residents of the Alberta Industrial Heartland area may see a slight increase in rail traffic. To us, rail safety is of the utmost importance to ensure our employees, our neighbours, our families and community members remain safe, each and every day as we operate.
Remember, there are no small incidents when it comes to rail. Whether you’re near a work site or just interacting with a rail line in your personal life, this Rail Safety Week, we remind everyone the importance of staying safe around rail lines.

Learn More About our Rail Operations
Through our agreement with Savage Services to operate HPC’s Rail Loading Complex (RLC), our site services approximately 15-20 loaded rail cars per day, seven days per week. Each car can hold up to roughly 220,000 lbs/99,000 kgs of our Heartland Polymers polypropylene and services our customers across North America via the CP rail line.
