As fresh potato chips were packaged in bags made from our Heartland Polymers somewhere in middle America, IPL landed in Ottawa to receive a fistful of prestigious Responsible Care Awards.

“Our operations team at HPC has worked tirelessly to implement innovative practices that prioritize not just compliance, but proactive measures to enhance our community’s safety and well-being. This award underscores our dedication to responsible operations and our continuous pursuit of better in all that we do.”

Accepting the Chemistry Industry Association of Canada (CIAC) awards on behalf of the Company were, Ali Chapman, Supervisor Environment & Regulatory Heartland, and Alicia Pope, Supervisor Health & Safety Heartland. The Responsible Care Awards, serve as an annual benchmark for excellence in the chemistry and plastics sector – essentially recognizing Inter Pipeline’s Heartland business for living its commitment, we believe in better. That was recognized with the Stewardship Award and the Excellence in Partnership Awards.

Reflecting on the milestone, Ali Chapman said, “This award feels particularly special, since many of us have been involved from the early days of the PRIA partnership and the Operational Readiness phase of Heartland. It truly showcases our commitment to health, safety, process safety, and environmental excellence through that entire journey.”

As noted during the awards ceremony, Ali said the support of family and loved ones has been instrumental in allowing our employees to focus on their goals and drive these initiatives forward. “It’s absolutely been a team effort to progress the programs that earned us this recognition,” Ali emphasized. “I want to extend a huge thank you to everyone involved.”

Looking ahead, Inter Pipeline remains committed to the principles of Responsible Care as a journey of continuous improvement. “We believe in better,” Ali said, underscoring the ambition for the upcoming year. Our focus will be on formalizing our Responsible Care program specifically for the Heartland business unit, paving the way for further advancements in safety and sustainability.

As we celebrate this achievement, we look forward to what’s next on our journey toward sustainability and operational excellence. Together, we will continue to build a safer, more responsible future for our communities and the environment.
