For Tim Abel, stepping up during times of crisis isn’t just part of his volunteer role, but a reflection of who he is, both in and out of the workplace. As a volunteer fire captain with the Hardisty Fire Department, Tim has spent 16 years responding to emergencies, leading crews, and supporting his community through some of its most challenging moments.
At Inter Pipeline’s Hardisty field office, Tim is known for his steady presence and strong work ethic. His calm approach, sound judgment, and willingness to lend a hand mirror the qualities he brings to his role as a fire captain.
“Tim exemplifies what it means to lead with purpose,” says Jason Moch, Vice President, Pipeline Operations, Transportation. “His dedication to safety, service, and community reflects the very best of our values — and we’re proud to have him on our team.”
When he’s off the clock, and usually at a moment’s notice, Tim is coordinating fire or rescue response efforts, mentoring new recruits, and helping ensure the safety of his neighbours.
There’s a strong sense of duty in both roles. Whether I’m at IPL or with the fire department, it’s about teamwork, trust, and doing the right thing, even when it’s hard.Tim Abel, Field Operator, Transportation
